Taiwan Day 4 - SEND International Taiwan HQ & Interviews

Today Mr. Harbour and I drove north about 40 minutes to Taichung City where SEND International's Taiwan Headquarters is located. I was able to meet two Vision 119 missionaries who were working on evangelizing to the Hakka people while Mr. Harbour attended a short meeting. These two missionaries told me a lot of interesting information on who the Hakka people are and how they practice ancestral worship very heavily. Honestly, I didn't even know the Hakka people existed until I came to Taiwan. However, this people group is only .3% Christian and are in desperate need of Jesus. The missionaries also advised me to never eat good looking vegetables in Taiwan because the good looking ones probably use a ton of pesticides.

After his meeting, Mr. Harbour and I were able to interview SEND's Taiwan Distract Pastor, Timothy Tang, who also pastors a local church. We then got lunch together and Mr. Harbour and Pastor Tang talked about some future plans for church planting in Taiwan.

Immediately after lunch, Mr. Harbour and I visited and interviewed Pastor Samuel Hsu of OC International. The interview went very well and came out to be about 57 minutes long (definitely the longest interview that I've ever filmed). However, Pastor Hsu shared his vision of a united Taiwan church network and even shed some tears when he talked about the need for mass prayer.

After the interview, we headed back to Chiayi and grabbed a bite for dinner from a place right across the street from the Harbours' house. At night, I had the opportunity to interview the Harbours and capture some of the stories, wisdom, and plans that they had for their ministry and for their future.

Overall, after hearing all of the interviews and stories of the missionaries, I noticed that all of them kept mentioning group prayer, mass prayer, more prayer, etc. These missionaries and pastors are really trying to emphasize the need for prayer support in their ministries and projects right now! Please pray for them in these ways:

  1. Pray that the churches of Taiwan will unite over the same God and help build each other up.
  2. Pray that more missionaries will come to Taiwan and work on starting 60 churches up and down Highways 1 & 19.
  3. Pray that God will provide a physical building/place of worship for the Hakka people in a small village north of Taichung City.

Thanks again for your support :)!
